Das chinesische Qingming-Fest
(chin. qīngmíng „hell und klar“) am 4. oder 5. April,
selten auch am 6. April, ist das chinesische
Totengedenkfest. Es ist das einzige traditionelle Fest,
das nicht direkt nach dem baeuerlichen Mondkalender
berechnet wird, sondern immer am 15. Tag nach
astronomischen Fruehlingsbeginn stattfindet, in der
Regel also auf den 5. April faellt.
|
bestimmt ("Ekliptik"). 24 Ereignis-Perioden umfassen

verschiedenen Drachen abgebildet (zwei
Schmetterlingsdrachen und einen Schwalben-Drachen).

The
Chinese Qingming Festival (in Chinese 'qīngmíng',
'bright and clear') on April 4th or 5th, rarely also
on April 6th, is the Chinese Deceased Memorial Day. It
is the only traditional festival that is not
calculated directly according to the rural lunar
calendar, but rather always takes place on the 15th
day after the astronomical start of spring, usually on
April 5th.
|
"The
24 Solar Terms" is a set of event periods combined in
a super-set representing the festivals of LiChun,
YuShui, JingZhe, ChuFen, GuYu and QingMing. Thus the
"24 Solar Terms" is a traditional Chinese luni-solar
calendar, according the position
of the sun on the ecliptic. It comprises or 24
seasonal divisions, representing terms of 15
days each and are guides to agricultural crop
seasons all around the year.

The 1.20 yuan kite stamp
represents the QingMing festival in
spring. It is roughly equivalent to the
the western context of "All Souls'
Day" of the Christian denominations. The
stamp shows three kite flyers (boys)
with three different kites (two butterfly
kites and a swallow kite). Further
information on the Chinese QingMing
Festival can be found in the 2010
QingMing Jie edition.

The 2019 special edition features
the same stamp images with identical
lettering and dates, but a different
printing technique and color. This issue
is part of a postal collection item (all
stamps from the various '24 Solar
Calendar editions in a color-matched
souvenir sheet of 24 stamps in the shape
of a wheel, see there). The philatelic
information on this can be found on
page 67 of the book "Kites of the
World on Stamps of the World", which will
be published in mid-2024. |
